We’re excited to share a curated selection of desi seed varieties with you. These seeds are ideal for home gardeners looking to grow their own food and build seed sovereignty over time. Each packet is thoughtfully sized for small-scale gardening/farming, making it easy to cultivate a diverse and thriving garden. All our varieties are heirloom (open-pollinated), which means you can save your own seeds season after season—preserving traditional genetics, reducing dependency, and saving money in the long run.

Seed saving is a dying art. It requires allowing some plants to fully mature in the field, rather than quickly replanting. It also calls for care and patience in harvesting, drying, and storing seeds properly to ensure they remain viable for future use. Today, many farmers choose hybrid seeds for their convenience and higher yields, allowing for multiple harvests in a season. However, this comes at the cost of seed saving and the ability to preserve genetic diversity, making it harder to maintain sustainable, self-sufficient farming practices.

At Amaltas Farm, we’ve been committed to natural farming and permaculture principles since 2019, focusing on ecological balance, soil health, and sustainable farming practices. Our approach includes reviving seed saving, honoring the age-old tradition of preserving biodiversity while empowering home gardeners to do the same.

While the seeds are viable and tested, it also matters how you sow and what conditions you provide. For that, we recommend watching informative videos like those from the Garden Up YouTube channel, which offer valuable insights on seed sowing techniques and optimal growing conditions. Also, the seasons mentioned here are based on the climate of Central India. If you're located in a different region, you may need to adjust sowing times according to your local weather conditions. We hope you find joy in your gardening journey, enjoy a great harvest, and invite pollinators to your garden.
